And they rightly wanted to show it off: something we could easily deliver as part of the project.
“We want the driver to feel excited when they sit behind the steering wheel of the new Civic”, states Mitsuru Kariya, Civic Development Leader – and to achieve this, Honda developed two key chassis innovations.
We provided CG animations of these two innovative features to Honda’s PR production agency, Gaucho Productions, to be used in their pre-launch PR films.
These two clips illustrate the two major features of the Civic’s chassis which were developed by Honda to improve the model’s ride and handling.
The first CG animation reveals the sophisticated Torsion Beam Rear Suspension System – a highly compact solution which gives high performance whilst preserving the maximum cabin space inside the Civic.
The second CG animation explores Honda’s unique Fluid-Filled Compliance Bushing – a technical advance which gives the Civic superb balance between ride comfort and exciting, sporty handling.

These CG clips were relatively easy to produce as part of a whole raft of content taken from the single, original CG model, and could be easily matched to the position and perspective of the Civic in the preceding footage to give a smooth transition from film to animation.
The animations, coupled with various shots of the new Civic under its disguise kit, gave the automotive press an powerful teaser in the weeks leading up to Honda’s flagship model launch at Frankfurt 2011 – the video received some 30,000 views in the build-up to the Civic launch.
