Post-Production

Our post-production is rooted in an absolute respect for the fact that the eye and the brain of the viewer are the harshest, most unforgiving critics.

People react to images. They usually won’t know or stop to think why, but they’ll like it or they’ll not like it; they’ll be moved or they won’t.

We’ve spent twenty years studying and discovering how to lead the eye and the brain to believe an image so strongly that the viewer buys into its emotional message.

“Given what I try to do with my work – that is, to capture and create a feeling rather than make a photograph – there are not too many people in this world to whom I can entrust this ethic…”
Darran Rees, Photographer. View project

Colour grading is what really shapes the emotional balance of your image. We’ve graded some of the most iconic images in advertising history – from Guinness to VW to Stella Artois – and have helped many top photographers to develop successful, famous and award-winning aesthetics.

“Colour grading is so important in creating a reaction – all of our imagery is very carefully colour graded. An image straight out of a camera usually won’t quite capture the right feel for an emotive advertising campaign, and it’s the delicate use of colour in post-production that directs the consumer’s feelings towards the ad. The toolset has been decreased somewhat in production and increased in post-production, but it’s still very much an instinctive, natural process.”
Chris Christodoulou, MD, Saddington Baynes

The key to Saddington Baynes’ success, and the central strength of our future, is in our most advanced understanding of the subtlest uses and effects of colour to craft your customer’s emotional response and, therefore, make your advertising that much more powerful and effective. It’s a powerful magic, and it’s true whoever you are: McDonald’s, Alexander McQueen or the local cafe. Colour sets the mood, shapes perception, defines brands. Colour is king.

“It’s like seeing what you have in your mind miraculously appear without any real instruction… a seamless approach and a complete understanding of colour and perspective.”
Peter Beavis, Photographer. View project

These days, with the reach that online and mobile can give to a campaign, the emotional impact of your brand’s imagery has never been more crucial: it can literally make or break a campaign according to whether people do or don’t react to it correctly – and strongly enough – at the very first, instantaneous glance. This is only going to become more and more true: if your imagery works, it spreads; if it doesn’t, it dies. With margins this small, the intelligence and attention to detail of any image must be that much more precise.
