Business Development Manager (USA, Remote)

Reporting to the Commercial Director

SB is an award-winning Creative Production Studio with an international reach that produces high-quality image content for direct brands and advertising agencies through our imaginative fusion of creative direction, CGI, photography, video and post-production. We are co-owned by two energetic and experienced creative partners who are highly regarded within the post-production community, leading a closely-knit team of 36 based in central London.
 Our business is growing and we’re motivated to unlock our exciting mid and longer-term ambitions by growing our sales team. To do this we are looking for an experienced New Business Manager to add value to our growth activities across US and beyond by identifying and driving new commercial opportunities with both new and existing clients as well as helping to drive our marketing efforts with targeted strategies to grow those territories by 15% year-on-year over the next 5 years. You will spearhead the acquisition of new business as well as ensuring the needs of our existing customers are being met leading to profitable repeat business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying and winning new direct OEM client accounts
  • Winning new direct sales
  • Developing and innovating our sales portfolio
  • Strategic planning alongside meticulous research and market sizing
  • Developing market and segment targeting strategies

  • In line with Saddington Baynes’ aim for significant and rapid growth, the emphasis is on your ability to identify and build strong relationships that result in regular creative business, to maximise revenues and increase profits.
  • In conjunction with the CEO and Commercial Director you will help to define the new business and client services strategy
  • Instrumental in identifying the relevant regions, sectors, businesses and job titles to target
  • Identify new avenues and entry-points for SB products and services through market research
  • Keep up to date with new trends in the creative production industry and ensure Saddington Baynes remains at the cutting edge with our portfolio offering
Account Management
  • Develop a solid knowledge of SB’s product offering and differentiated proposition in order to understand how to best position SB in all relevant markets and identify new growth opportunities
  • Driving development of key clients (existing and potential) to maximise profit for the businesses
  • Leading new business strategy, client management and sales development progress
  • Embedding a consultative sales approach that wins business
  • Identifying and targeting the relevant individuals within organisations that control budgets and make decisions along with influencers within those businesses
  • Delivering effective presentations and training the team to do the same
  • Working with the marketing and production teams to ensure a consistent experience from 1st touchpoint through to final delivery
  • Negotiating win-win deals for SB and the client
  • Networking with relevant individuals within existing and target client businesses
  • Successfully integrate within our team in order, to maximise creativity, lead generation and sales success
  • Ensure accurate and timely sales reporting to the CEO including a weekly sales forecast and inputting on the monthly global sales report
  • Report regularly to the Board on the progress of the sales team’s activities against business growth objectives and targets
  • Track activity against budgets
  • Track the progress of all sales prospects and record all activity and actions on the SB CRM system
  • Share insights, scripts and plans for generating new business within emerging markets and other industries
  • Willingness to travel regularly, both nationally and internationally
  • Responsibilities will be many and varied, so the candidate should have good flexibility and willingness to pick up and run with work and proactively add ideas and innovation to our business

Required Skills

  • Proven experience of personally soliciting and acquiring 6-figure new client business through proactive and persuasive outbound Sales activities allied to detailed strategic research and market sizing that serve the needs of the Company’s objectives
  • Proven experience of selling high-value, high-margin services across small to large corporates and agencies that has involved multi-level contact across different business functions of the client’s business, from board level downward
  • Proven ability to plan and manage an extended sales cycle using your initiative at all times to ensure that the sale continues to move in a positive direction
  • Proven ability to negotiate year-on-year high client renewal income and high upsell percentages on all previously won contracts
  • Ability to write compelling and engaging copy for all client communications, including emails, RFP’s and Pricing Grids for Purchasing leaders
  • Experience in devising, delivering and presenting client presentations to marketing, finance executives, CEO’s and other stakeholders in end-user organisations that address and enhance client business needs and expectations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a creative flair and keen interest in SB’s services and values
  • Ability to handle heavy workload, mediating many demands and requests with strong problem-solving drive
  • Smart and quick learner with organizational agility and strong attention to detail
  • Focused team player with strong resilience
  • Proven experience in cold calling and rejection-handling techniques
  • Able to manage out-of-hours sales initiatives across global time zones
  • Experience of working within an Agency or Production Studio would be an advantage
  • Current contacts at senior level within UK agencies and brand clients would be a plus
  • Strong knowledge of FMCG, Pharmaceutical, Consumer technology sectors required
  • Experience in building, managing and mentoring an effective outbound sales team
  • Knowledge of print, digital, interactive and broadcast media would be a real plus
  • Direct personal experience and knowledge of international markets would be valued
  • Out-of-hours client entertainment and attendance at industry events will be required
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Keynote
